Privacy
This page describes what NetworksInsights does with your data today. It is short because the site does very little.
In short
- There are no accounts and no sign-up.
- The site sets no cookies.
- The site counts visits, tool use and errors with Umami, without cookies and without storing your IP address. It has no advertising trackers.
- Your theme choice is stored on your own device and never sent to us.
What the site does
NetworksInsights is a set of static pages. Loading a page does not ask you for information, and the site has no forms that send data to us. The fonts are served from the site itself, so your browser does not contact a font service either.
Cookies and local storage
The site sets no cookies. It stores one item in your browser's local storage, under the keyni-theme: your choice of light, dark or system theme, if you make one. It stays on your device, and the site does not read it for any other purpose.
So that tools keep working without a connection, the site's service worker keeps a copy of the site's own pages you open, and of the code they need, in your browser's cache: up to the last hundred pages. It never keeps what you type or the files you open in a tool, and it never sends anything anywhere. Clearing your browser's data for this site removes the copies.
Analytics
To learn which tools people use, which pages are slow and what breaks, the site usesUmami Cloud, a cookie-free analytics service. Its script is served from this site; what it measures is sent to Umami. It sets no cookies and cannot follow you to other sites.
For each page you open, it sends:
- the page address, without anything after a
?or# - the page title, and the address of the site that linked you here, if any
- your screen size and your browser's language
- how fast the page loaded and responded (Core Web Vitals: LCP, INP, CLS, and two related timings).
On a tool page it also sends one "tool-used" event the first time you use the tool, with the tool's name and nothing you entered. If the page hits a programming error, it sends at most 3 "js-error" reports: the kind of error, its message with any quoted text, web addresses, email addresses and long numbers removed, and the file and line of our code where it happened.
Umami receives your IP address with each request, as any server does, and does not store it. It uses it to estimate your country and region, and to count visitors: it combines your IP address and browser with a secret value that changes every month, so repeat visits within a month count as one visitor and nothing links you from one month to the next. Nothing is sent if your browser sends Do Not Track, or if a content blocker stops the script. The script reads one local storage key, umami.disabled, which lets the site's owner leave their own visits out of the numbers. It never writes anything to your browser.
Tools and your files
Every tool page says where that tool does its work. The site has no tool that sends your files or text to a server: they are processed in your browser, on your device, and are never sent to us or to the analytics service.
Some tools need a larger file to do their job: a PDF engine, an image decoder, an audio encoder, a text-recognition language file or an AI model (used by Background Remover, Image Upscaler and Speech to Text). Your browser downloads that file from this site, and may keep it for later. It is a download only: nothing you enter goes with it. Once downloaded, the tool works on your device.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver a page, Cloudflare necessarily receives technical request data, such as your IP address and the page you asked for. SeeCloudflare's privacy policyfor how it handles that data.
