Add Watermark to Image puts a text watermark on a JPG, PNG or WebP picture, once in a corner or tiled across it, and saves it in the same format. Photographers, sellers and designers use it to mark a picture with a name or a copyright line before sharing it, so a copy that travels keeps its credit. You choose the size, colour, opacity and angle, and the picture is drawn again on your device without an upload.
How to use
- Drop one JPG, PNG or WebP picture on the box, or click it to choose one.
- Type the Watermark text, such as your name or a copyright line, up to 100 characters.
- Set the Text size as a percent of the picture’s shorter side, the Opacity from 5 to 100%, and the Rotation in degrees.
- Choose a Position: one of the four corners, the centre, or tiled over the whole picture.
- Pick a Colour, then press Add watermark. Check the preview, then press Download.
Examples
A 4,000 by 3,000 pixel beach.jpg with the text © Example Studio, size 5%, white at 50% opacity, bottom right, gives beach-watermarked.jpg at the same 4,000 by 3,000 pixels. The text is 150 pixels tall, because 5% of 3,000 is 150, and it sits 75 pixels in from the bottom and right edges. Choose tiled with a rotation of -30 and the line repeats in rows across the whole picture, every copy slanted, with a gap of one text height between rows.
Limits
Only text watermarks: a logo or image watermark cannot be uploaded in this version. One picture at a time, up to 25 MB and 50 megapixels. JPG and WebP are saved again at 92% quality, our own choice, so they lose a little; PNG is lossless. Safari cannot write WebP, so in Safari a WebP picture is saved as PNG and the result says so. The text uses your device’s own sans-serif font, so it looks a little different on each system. A large rotated corner watermark can run past the edge. A watermark discourages copying but anyone with an image editor can crop or paint over it.
FAQ
Which opacity is hard to remove but still easy on the eye?
There is no single right value. As a rule of thumb, not a tested figure, a tiled watermark at a low opacity of 15 to 25% covers the whole picture while letting it show through; try a few and compare the previews.
Are the camera details in my photo kept?
No. The picture is drawn again on a canvas, which writes only the pixels, so the camera model, the date and any location stored in the original are not carried over.
Why is my phone photo upright in the result when it looked sideways elsewhere?
The browser reads the orientation tag a camera stores and draws the picture the way it should be seen, so the result is saved upright.
